Lunar Eclipse will prove elusive for Southwest Nebraska-Wauneta Breeze
The big news this week is the astronomical total lunar eclipse that will occur Saturday 10 December.
A total Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow crosses the face of the moon. These events occur only when the Moon is full.
That is the good news, now for the bad news — we will not be able to see much from here in Southwest Nebraska.
From our point of view the portion of the total eclipse begins at about 18 I.e. when the Moon enters the darkest part of the shadow of the Earth, called the umbra.
